Uncommon Ear is an MCP server for finding music and Effects & samples and managing your collections. Tracks use several Creative Commons licenses, mostly CC0, including CC0 1.0, CC BY, and CC BY-NC. Read each track’s terms and credit_line. CC0 usually needs no credit; CC BY and CC BY-NC require it. CC BY-NC is for non-commercial purposes only: not in monetized videos, paid games, client work, or ads.
The endpoint is https://uncommonear.com/mcp. You sign in with a free Uncommon Ear account through OAuth. The server grants the scopes mcp:read and mcp:collections.

To make a sound board, call create_collection with kind set to board, add tracks, then open /sound-boards/mine in a browser where you’re signed in. Sound boards and collections have separate limits, and list_collections takes kind (collection by default, board, or all). No separate tool is involved.
Free accounts can make 20 calls per minute and 300 calls per day. Pro accounts can make 60 calls per minute and 20,000 calls per month.
| Plan | Per minute | Per day or month |
|---|---|---|
| Free | 20 | 300 per day |
| Pro | 60 | 20,000 per month |
The limits apply to your account across all of your assistants and are shared with the JSON API. Over a limit, a tool returns “Too many requests” with the number of seconds to wait. Free accounts have one collection. Pro accounts have up to 1,000 collections and can create 60 per hour. A collection holds up to 500 tracks, and a CC BY-NC track can’t join a commercial collection.
